Awards dinner to be held this year on the 4th Feb. Please can you click attending to let me know numbers and then I'll get in touch with The Dynamo to organise.
Please can you also let me know if you will be bringing a partner as all are welcome.
I'll ask Véronique if she wants to join in.
Just me this year I should think.
Emma keen to join, I think. She may come on the Xmas drinks too.
I'll be there. Chloë will be 8 months pregnant so suspect she will opt for a quiet night in!
Also, we should encourage newbies to come along. This isn't even really about the Awards. It's mostly about getting the club together once a year and sharing an ale or three.
Véronique is in.
That's very close to go time for us.
It'll probably just be me.
I cannot make this - I'm flying to Venice that morning, or the night before.
Don't bother, they don't want you there..
I'll get it in early.
I'm flying to Venice to go skiing in the dolomites with some mates.
A likely story.
It's true - honest guv
Is this still on?
But I wonder if we should think about somewhere other than Dynamo?
I'd say I've experienced underwhelming service from them more often than not.
And their menu strikes me as pointlessly outré (what's wrong with saying 'ham').
I don't mind using Dynamo. I know their service can be iffy sometimes, but they were great when I had my daughter's second birthday there.
It would be good to know if we're going ahead though @Ricky, and if you need a hand organising anything. I've got family wanting to visit that weekend, so it would good to know whether I need to defend the evening or not!
I'm not a massive Dynamo fan but happy to go with the group.
Incidentally, when do we need to ring the coffers again with subs?
Happy with Dynamo.
No real other alternatives.
For a restaurant? Only the tens of 1,000's of other ones in London
Unless of course we need to have bike frames hanging above us while we eat.
I'll happily find another one if there are a set of criteria I should be fulfilling.
Cost? Numbers? Location? Etc
Well, to answer your questions, I would suggest...
Cost: relatively cheap (up to £40 per head with a few beers)
Numbers: around our membership count (realistically perhaps 30 or so)
Location: not too far from our spirtual home of Wayne Towers (i.e. around Putney)
It would, in theory, be nice to support somewhere we like, and while we had that intention for Dynamo, I suspect that Wayne would by now by experiencing some internal angst with how they are run :)
Last time I went the only place we could get a seat was outside in the cold because inside was full of yummy-mummies that had parked their prams in the bike spaces. Service was shocking and it's hardly great value for money.
We could go to Santa Maria (Pasquale's pizzeria) in Chelsea? He rides for the 5th Floor so hold that against him but he's a top bloke and I'm sure he'd love it if we came.
